Took this #Grasshopper shot strait after coming in from my run last night .This time last year I was on crutches After my second knee operation ! Today after my yoga practice I'll be doing a 5 mile run ,this week I'm hoping to have run 25 miles in total graduating up in mileage so as to enter my second half marathon I came 73 in my first Eden project race my yoga has helped me recover with strength ,so as to allow me to run again and hopefully get good times !!yoga strength!

I went to the doctors today to check up on a scan for a back injury I had several months ago!He suggested I take up Pilates ! I said I practice Ashtanga !He said yes but you need strength as well as flexibility !!! Nothing wrong in Pilates but I'll stick with Ashtanga for Now perhaps my Doctor should try a Ashtanga class before handing out advice !lol Ashtanga gives you strength as well as flexibility It seems to be a bit of a secret Especially to the the NHS!!!

Walking around the Eden project yesterday !Parents half our age literally looking bored while most not ALL even smiling!!certainly not playing!! We love to have fun get into what ever we are doing !So if your not familiar with the hashtag stopdropandyoga That's Exactly what it says Pulling a yoga pose wherever you are!!Yes strange at first but four years into yoga and just over a year on instagram I DON'T care in fact we smile and most onlookers get entertained!! The power of yoga makes me feel like a child again having fun not just standing around watching your children play ! Infact often inspiring young and old to have a go , it can only have positive Effect !!

Find time for some Exercise today Doesn't have to be yoga !But you never feel like youve wasted time !Unlike tv which I have up watching years ago although we keep getting letters saying we should have a tv licence.NOT if I'd rather fo something less boring instead (now that's a tv throw back saying) You can ALWAYS find time for some yoga or activity you will Thank yourself for it!

Ashtanga Yoga gives you strength , practicing daily will keep your body and mind strong! Like anything in life just going through the moves won't cut it!!you could say you practice yoga as many do but your body will reflect your practice! Of course there are many different types of yoga .Ashtanga suits me it's not for everyone , each move practiced correctly will challenge your mind and body both working together . Warrior pose is a perfect example of what you can get out of a pose or Not .Alignment ,breathing ,balance are all part of this pose you can get as much or as little as you won't from this seemingly easy pose All poses are there for a reason! Enjoy
Healthy eating is about Balance & discipline !! Like my ashtanga yoga I love my daily juicing /smoothies I'm Always experimenting with different recipes as much as I'm trying new balances and postures with some yoga fun!! But you don't get the fun without the discipline ;my daily practice gives me the ability to do strength moves such as this; because of my commitment within my yoga and the other sporting activities I participate in .Everything to the full or not at All in my books including diet , eat crap fell like crap !I'm fuelled on plant power and at 47 I'm getting stronger & discovering new abilities with my body every Day! This is one of the poses in our fun league of extraordinary yogis Challenge presently on instagram!! The smoothie recipe I'm holding as follows ( 1/2 fresh juiced pineapple kiwi fruit x 1 then blend with banana x1 a teaspoon of Chia seeds and a cup of coconut milk!) Enjoy!!

Felt better today so attempt a yoga poses brought to us by My fellow league of extraordinary yogis host saltulife princess!! Yes I have a prolapse disc hopefully on the mend !!But I'm also self-employed so I don't sit around on my ass when the in pain ;I get on with it ! Check out my fellow hosts poses each day this month I'm trying what I can as my back improves!!

I'm on the road to recovery I hope!! For the second time I have trapped a nerve in my back apparently my third & fourth vertebrae are the buggers!So my daily ashtanga practice has been put on the back burner once AGAIN!I'm certainly not new to injury I started when I was 4 years old ,lol I've had everything a wired up haw for six weeks drinking through a straw to knee operations & to many stitches to mention.So this time my back has a prolapse disc But that doesn't mean sitting around by any means so each day I'm posting what I'm doing to keep fit and recover back to full ashtanga practice and my hands on job as a builder designer.Today I'm showing a finger tip caturanga -dandasana & a upward dog ,GREAT for stretching & strengthening the back muscles that you need to recover .Any sitting around or non activity is no good it's going to make your back stiff at any time !There is a lot of grey area to backs as I've now found out so I'm getting on with my recovery as I see best if it doesn't hurt then it must be ok !!

Last Day of #extraordinaryleagueofyogis My pose day today .Despite being extremely fit when I started ashtanga yoga I couldn't get one of the primary series binds !But with regular daily practice I achieved this flexibility !You don't have to be flexible to start yoga but you do need to be dedicated .Then all is possible!!

Plantstrong! I had a trapped nerve that's Been giving me jip over the last few weeks but when your self employed you have to keep moving & working this might look a bit extreme but only certain movements like forward bends trouble me at present the back is a strange muscle .I've learnt to work around my back problems over the years when they occur ;sitting around just weakens the muscles eventually you get through the pain faster than being idle.Plus what you eat definitely helps recuperation Hence I'm having a mint ,ginger Apple ,spinach kiwi & pineapple juice .We are what we eat!!

Yoga is Art ! Some say that people that use instagram or alike to show there yoga aren't true Yogis!!Well The more people that get to see yoga ,and there are so many types of yoga to explore its all good to me !! YOGA is for everyone it's not exclusive and the more work you put in the more you will receive !it's also pretty difficult for people who seek inspiration if there's little for them to look at ;I say more yoga makes the world a better place!!
How many people exercise with there children? How many people especially at my age sit on the side lines unable to participate because of there fitness levels !! For me being injured is so frustrating as I hate to be unable to get outside and enjoy life especially with my family.I've actually torn a muscle on my right side of my back whilst working which only prevents me from certain movements on on the right side ! I'm self-employed so no sick pay you just have to get on with things!! No I don't expect most people to be able to do what I'm doing in this photo with or without a bad back !Because most people don't do yoga,or exercise enough. However I've only been doing yoga a few years But my previous fitness and healthy diet have enabled me to accomplish GREAT things in my ashtanga but I apply the same principle in all things I do in my life NOTHING by halfs !! This is how myself and my partner teach our children ; so why sit around watching your children ? GETOUTSIDE Embrace the myriad of Excitement there is in exercise!!

You REALLY don't need Money to practice YOGA ! There are often people who teach for free ! & a good book perhaps from even the library like (Petri raisanen) can help you on your yoga journey !Money should not stop you from practicing something that could change your life & you can practice yoga anywhere!! The most important thing in yoga is your wanting to do it and if want to progress you will ! Laziness isn't a requirement though! Lol! I'm going to be doing a yoga challenge on instagram hosted by @kinomacgregor , @beachyogagirl , #Mayibeginyoga starts may 1st I'm going to do it with my children and partner .There are many challenges and helpfully yogis on instagram a great way to look at yoga!Enjoy!!
